Nintendo Switch 2 releases on June 5, 2025. The date was announced during the Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 livestream on April 4.
Analysts expect Nintendo Switch 2 to be the biggest console launch in history. According to Bloomberg, Nintendo will have an initial inventory of 6 million to 8 million units. If Nintendo manages to sell out all of its first-day stock within the first quarter, it could surpass Sony’s PlayStation 5 record of 4.5 million units sold during the same period.
On top of that, at the end of January 2025, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, Phil Spencer, confirmed the plans to bring Xbox games on Nintendo Switch 2, mentioning titles like Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Also, earlier this year, Electronic Arts (EA) CEO Andrew Wilson hinted that the publisher is looking to bring some of its most popular franchises, like FC, Madden and The Sims, to Nintendo’s Switch 2.
The original Nintendo Switch sold over 150 million units, securing its place as the third best-selling game console of all time.
