A mark of ten million units sold was reached by Monster Hunter Wilds since its simultaneous launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on Feb. 28, 2025.

Since its very first hours after release, Monster Hunter Wilds has been setting record after record for Capcom, starting with hitting 800k concurrent players on Steam alone within an hour of its launch. It continued by reaching a peak of 1,384,608 concurrent Steam players on its second day, and then the game set a record as the company’s fastest-selling game ever, with 8 million units sold in the first three days.

Yuya Tokuda, director of Monster Hunter Wilds, approached the gamers with an official statement thanking them for playing Monster Hunter Wilds and telling them in detail about the recently announced first big free content update scheduled for release on Friday, April 4, 2025, and other improvements planned for the year.

In addition to the new content, such as the additional monster, Mizutsune, and the new multiplayer gathering location, the Grand Hub, he also hit on further updates the game will see throughout 2025.

The next big free content update will come around the summer, with more free expansions planned to reach beyond that, while in May, the game is going to get a Capcom Collaboration and several additional yet not announced features.

In his message, Tokuda paid particular attention to arch-tempered monsters, stronger versions of tempered creatures that will make an appearance in the first update. He highlighted that in the first update, Mizutsune will be unlocked at level 21 or higher, while Tempered Mizutsune will be available for players at level 41 or above.

As for May’s big update, it will come at the end of the month and will add the Tempered Monster Gore Magala and the apex predators of each locale: Rey Dau, Uth Duna, Nu Udra, and Jin Dahaad. Along with that the game will get balance adjustments and quality of life improvements.
