Space Marine 2 Updates Will Continue Even with Part Three in the Works

- Focus and Saber confirm full support for Space Marine 2, with major content updates planned.
- Patch 7.0 adds a new PvE map called Exfiltration, which takes place on Avarax.
- Developers also teased a brand-new class coming to the game soon.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will continue getting content updates despite the earlier announcement of Space Marine 3 entering the development as games’ publisher Focus Entertainment and developer Saber Interactive confirmed it in a recent Space Marine 2 March community update.
As stated in the message to the community, ‘’Space Marine 3 does not mean the end of Space Marine 2’s development. Far from it’’.
Despite announcing Space Marine 3 just six months after Space Marine 2’s launch, the developers insist the sequel is still years away, and more importantly, it won’t affect ongoing support for the current game. “No teams are shifting over, no one is abandoning the game,” the studios said in a new community update. “We’re working on much more content and surprises for the months to come.”
Alongside reassurances came details about Space Marine 2’s upcoming Patch 7.0, dubbed the Trygon Update, set to launch in mid-April. The update adds a new PvE map called Exfiltration, which takes place on Avarax with a mission to exfiltrate a Tech-Priest occupying an Adeptus Mechanicus facility on the planet.
New Chapter Packs (Space Wolves and Imperial Fists) are also on the way, along with a weapon perks rework and Inferno Pistol becoming available to Assault, Bulwark, Sniper and Heavy Class players, both in PvP and PvE modes.

Private lobbies (up to twelve players in format 6v6) are coming to PvP, with multiple customization options, from friendly fire toggles to score and time limits.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2’s developers also teased a brand-new class coming to the game soon. The year-one roadmap is still in play, and devs promise ”surprises even dataminers haven’t found out about.’’

Space Marine 2 has sold 2.5 million copies within its first month, becoming the most-played Warhammer title on Steam to date. By mid-October 2024, sales had reached 4.5 million copies and as of January 2025, the game surpassed six million copies sold.
