Minecraft’s “Spring to Life” Update Features New Blocks, New Ambient Sounds, and More

Minecraft’s “Spring to Life” update added new blocks, new ambient sounds for the Desert and Badlands, and animal variants into the game. The patch notes were published on March 25.

The new blocks added to Minecraft are all flora, with the Firefly Bush leading the pack. This Firefly Bush spawns firefly particles around it and illuminates the area around it. Players will be able to find these in Swamp biomes.

Cactus Flower is a new block that can be found in Deserts and Badlands. They can be used to craft 1 Pink Dye and can be thrown into the composter. Cactus Flowers can also grow on cactus blocks. There are also other blocks to be added, namely:

• Bush
• Leaf Litter
• Short and Tall Dry Grass
• Wild Flowers

Speaking of Deserts and Badlands, new ambient sounds are added to these biomes.

Animal variants are also introduced in this patch. Chickens, cows, and pigs will now have a warm and cold variant depending on where the player finds them. The patch notes enumerated which biomes would host which variant of the animal. For example, the Badlands biome is considered a “Warm Farm Animal Biome” while a Grove is a “Cold Farm Animal Biome.”

Sheep wool colors are also going to be changed depending on their biomes. In cold biomes, the common sheep color is black. On the other hand, warm biomes will feature brown sheep more commonly. White sheep is still the most common color in temperate biomes, but there is also a rare chance for pink sheep to spawn in all biomes.

Trading has also been updated. The Wandering Trader will now have better prices and buy basic supplies from the player. The Cartographer will now sell seven new maps that point to a different village or structure in a different biome.
