Assassin’s Creed Shadows has passed the 1 million players mark on its launch day, March 20, 2025, according to the official statement on the Assassin’s Creed X (formerly Twitter) account.
The fourteenth major installment in the Assassin’s Creed series and the successor to 2023’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Assassin’s Creed Shadows was developed by Ubisoft Quebec and published by Ubisoft for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Windows and macOS), with a version for iPadOS to be released at a later date.
As of the time of writing, according to SteamDB, Assassin’s Creed Shadows featured a 41,412 all-time peak and the game a Very Positive rating on Steam with 4,279 reviews.
It is worth noting that the game’s release was postponed a couple of times. At first, the launch was moved from November 2024 to February 2025 and then to March 20, 2025. But despite all delays, Ubisoft was optimistic about the future of Assassin’s Creed Shadows and its potential to become one of the most popular chapters in the franchise as company’s CEO Yves Guillemot expressed full support for the development teams, stating, “We are all behind our teams’ efforts to create the most ambitious Assassin’s Creed opus, and this decision reflects our dedication to fully realizing the potential of the game.”
