The Capcom Pro Tour (CPT) has officially announced a partnership with the Esports World Cup (EWC), extending through 2027.
The major part of the deal is that Street Fighter 6 will feature not just on EWC 2025 but also on tournaments of 2026 and 2027. On top of that, the winner of the current year’s EWC will automatically earn a place at Capcom Cup 12, which is set to take place in March 2026.
It is worth noting that 21 of the 48 Street Fighter 6 players have already secured their places at the EWC 2025, while participants from such tournaments as EVO, Combo Breaker, EVO, and the last chance qualifier are yet to be selected.
The EWC promises to elevate the Street Fighter 6 competitive scene, stating ‘’We’re so ready for the heat!’’ and while specific figures for the Street Fighter 6 tournament’s prize pool are still under wraps, the overall event is expected to offer $60 million across all participating titles.
Last year’s EWC saw Street Fighter players battle for a $1 million prize pool and concluded on Aug. 11, 2024, with Zeng “Xiao Hai” Zhuojun emerging as the champion and taking $300,000 for the first place. This collaboration also comes on the heels of the Capcom Cup 11 finals, where Japanese player Kakeru walked away with a massive $1 million prize.
Capcom isn’t the only major player joining forces with the EWC. Riot Games has also jumped on board, bringing the League of Legends, VALORANT, and Teamfight Tactics into the fold. Street Fighter 6 will be joined by FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves, which has also been added to the event via a three-year partnership with SNK Corporation.
