- The next Diablo 4 expansion won’t arrive until 2026.
Blizzard Entertainment has delayed Diablo 4 Season 8 for “a couple of weeks” from its original launch date, according to a statement from Rod Fergusson, SVP and GM of the Diablo franchise.
“We’re focused on serving the game, not the plan,” Fergusson wrote on his social media. He also teased that players could expect the return of “an old ‘friend” in the upcoming season.
The announcement of the delay is coming on the heels of news about the second expansion being slated for release in 2026 from the original plan for 2025.
On top of that, according to Diablo IV Burning Questions from Feb. 27, 2025, the devs are considering keeping some of the current seasonal mechanics, like Rootholds, in future updates based on player feedback. Also, the development team promises quality of life coming to features like the mini-map and buff UI, addressing concerns about clutter and making important information easier to access.
