- The Gold Points reward program ends on March 25, 2025.
- Consumers have 12 more months after the specified date before the points disappear.
- Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers will not be redeemable for Switch 2 exclusive titles.
Nintendo has announced that it will discontinue its Gold Points rewards program on March 25, 2025. Users will have 12 months following this date to redeem any remaining points.
Gold Points, which offer small discounts on Nintendo eShop purchases, are currently earned through both physical and digital transactions. Under the existing system, a $59.99 (USD) purchase grants 300 Gold Points, equivalent to approximately $3.00 in value.
The current Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers allow players to purchase two games in their voucher’s catalogue for a sum of $99.98 – which essentially saves $20 for full-priced Switch games.
Nintendo confirmed that the Switch Game Vouchers will not be redeemable for the Switch 2. No news regarding an updated point system has been revealed. Updates for the Switch 2’s eshop will likely be included in the future Nintendo Direct, planned for April 2.
The original Nintendo Switch has sold 150 million units since its launch eight years ago, ranking among the best-selling gaming consoles in history. Its initial release was marked by widespread shortages, a challenge Nintendo is reportedly working to prevent for the launch of its successor.
