Fortnite’s upcoming collaboration with Mortal Kombat was teased in the Chapter 6 Season 2: Lawless Battle Pass reveal, which features an iconic Sub-Zero skin. The Battle Pass and the “Lawless” event launch on February 21, marking the first time Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat characters appear together in the same game—albeit outside their traditional fighting game genre.
The Mortal Kombat collaboration with Fortnite was subtly teased through a mini-event that debuted last weekend. Players witnessed Shogun X overpower Daigo in a dramatic 1v1 duel. The two characters grew to colossal sizes, towering over the landscape, before Shogun X delivered a finishing blow reminiscent of Mortal Kombat’s signature fatalities, slicing through Daigo in a decisive strike.
Other than Mortal Kombat’s Sub-Zero, the teased Chapter 6 Season 2 Battlepass also features a long-haired, rugged version of Midas. Big Dill, an anthropomorphic cucumber character, also debuts this season.
Fortnite is a multiplayer third person shooter that hit a peak of 2.45 million concurrent users. Most known for its Battle Royal game mode, Fortnite now serves as a home for numerous separate game modes – some of which have enough content to warrant being called a whole separate game. The battle royal paved the way for future live-service update titles, setting the standard for in-game monetization.
