Tundra Esports has triumphed in the BLAST Slam II Dota 2 tournament, claiming $300,000, along with an additional $100,000 in team earnings, with a 3-0 victory over Gaimin Gladiators in the Grand Final.
This victory is marking Tundra’s second consecutive tier-one tournament win on top of the team’s legacy, as the team previously won The International in 2022 and placed second at the BetBoom Dacha Belgrade in 2024.
The event, which took place from February 4th to 9th, featured ten of the world’s top Dota 2 teams competing in a round-robin group stage before progressing to single-elimination playoffs. All matches were best-of-three (BO3), with the Grand Final being a best-of-five (BO5) series. Tundra’s journey to the championship was nearly flawless, with the British organization only suffering one loss against Team Liquid en route to the Grand Final.
Tundra Esports was a standout throughout the tournament, securing a Semifinal spot after a 3-1 performance in the Group Stage. Their victory over Nigma Galaxy, a 2-1 series win, propelled them forward to face Gaimin Gladiators in the final match. Despite Gaimin Gladiators’ impressive credentials, which include winning Riyadh Masters 2024 and finishing as two-time The International runners-up, Tundra swept them in the best-of-five Grand Final, claiming the victory without losing a single match.
The team’s success was also notable for its impact on viewership, as according to Esports Charts, 257,487 viewers tuned in to watch Tundra’s performance.
One of the most compelling storylines of BLAST Slam II was the story of Tundra player Anton ‘dyrachyo’ Shkredov, who previously competed for Gaimin Gladiators before making the switch to Tundra in October 2024. For Shkredov, It was the second victory against the former team in two separate encounters this year. Anton’s former team claimed the prize of $200,000.
Tundra Esports now looks forward to the upcoming DreamLeague Season 25, which will feature 16 teams competing for another $1 million prize pool starting on February 16th till March 2nd.
