Ubisoft has revealed new details about its upcoming but postponing release, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, including several open-world activities. 

For now, the new title of Assassin’s Creed is scheduled for release on March 20, 2025. Shadows will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and allegedly on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.

As known from Ubisoft’s presentations and trailers, Assassin’s Creed Shadows introduces two protagonists, Naoe and Yasuke. Both characters will have distinct activities that build upon their narratives. 

Yasuke can train in advanced Kata techniques, unlocking powerful new attack moves, while Naoe’s Kuji-kiri meditation allows players to delve deeper into her backstory. Shadows is also going to let its leading characters take some time to appreciate the beauty of nature by creating art.

In the new Assassin’s Creed, a 360-degree observation function will allow players to identify distant locations and mark them on their map. These viewpoints also unlock fast-travel points but with a twist: some destinations are in hostile territory, requiring players to be prepared for a fight if discovered.

To simplify navigation across the vast world, a pathfinder system has been integrated into the game, allowing players to use horseback navigation akin to the waypoint mechanics in Grand Theft Auto.

Scouts also play a pivotal role in the game. They can locate significant points of interest, raid enemy strongholds, and even neutralize alerts if the player is caught breaking the law. 

Assassin’s Creed, with over 200 million copies sold worldwide, remains one of the most glorified Ubisoft game series, along with Tom Clancy’s, Far Cry, Watch Dogs, Just Dance, Rayman and Prince of Persia.
