Ubisoft has revealed a roadmap for the Skull and Bones’ second year, along with the Patch Notes for its first season.

Season one of the second year kicks off today, April 15, 2025, and brings new features, including Item Ascension for gear upgrades and World Tiers. There’s also a new medium-class ship, the Schooner, as well as reworked Empire systems and a revamped Helm. On top of that, Death Tides, a new PvP mode where teams fight for objectives and dominance on the high seas, will be added, among other features.

Over the next three seasons, Skull and Bones is set to receive:

  • In the second season, the game is about to welcome its first large-class ship, the Frigate, and a new high-stakes encounter with the Megafort, a fortified sea bastion bristling with cannons,
  • Season 3 will introduce land combat along with a new Officers system,
  • In the fourth season, another massive ship will join the game, as well as the mythic sea monster Kraken and a redesigned hunting system.

The news of the game’s new season is coming on the heels of Ubisoft’s willingness to sunset underperforming titles like XDefiant, with a full shutdown planned for June 3, 2025, and the company’s layoff and restructuring moves.

The embattled co-op pirate game developed by Ubisoft Singapore and published by Ubisoft was released for PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S on Feb. 16, 2024, after multiple delays and developmental difficulties since the beginning of its development in 2013. As of February 2024, Ubisoft has not publicly disclosed official sales figures for Skull and Bones. However, reports suggest that the game attracted approximately 850,000 players within its first week, including those who accessed the game’s free trial, according to reports.
