According to Tonda Ros, the director of Blue Prince, he was only able to create the game because of a Magic: the Gathering (MTG) fan site he made. It’s called the Mythic Spoiler website, and it was made for MTG fans to be able to look at card spoilers.

The site has a page dedicated to talking about how they were able to achieve their dreams of creating a game because of the site. “I created Mythic Spoiler twelve years ago, as a way to allow players to view card sets in a visually pleasing way,” Ros added that all the ad revenue of the website for the past eight years have been put into the creation of Blue Prince.

The game has been enjoying a lot of positive attention and reviews since its release. LocalThunk, the creator of Balatro, said that it’s already one of the best games they’ve ever played and advised his followers on BlueSky to “buy the game already.”

Blue Prince is a puzzle game that implements roguelike elements. Players are given steps as a resource and are tasked with exploring a mansion and solving puzzles as they complete objectives scattered throughout the game. Blue Prince’s release on April 10, 2025, was met with critical acclaim from various outlets, earning them a universal acclaim score on Metacritic. The game is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
