Nintendo fans consolidate in the face of scalpers which are already attempting to sell the Nintendo Switch 2 console at a higher price on sites like eBay while the console’s official launch is set for June 5.
As spotted by GamesRadar on the Switch 2 subreddit, users have started organizing mass-reporting campaigns against such listings. Armed with eBay’s strict rules, which prohibit selling items that can’t be shipped within 40 days, Nintendo fans are flagging listings that are well ahead of that window. At the time of writing, there are still 55 days till the official Nintendo Switch 2 launch date on June 5, 2025.
The subreddit has essentially turned into a tactical ops center, sharing tips on how to report listings effectively and encouraging each other to stay vigilant. As a result, many scalpers’ listings vanish shortly after being posted. This effort comes on the heels of Nintendo’s announcement of an anti-scalpers initiative.
It is worth noting that, historically, console launches have been ripe for scalping. The PS5 and Xbox Series X launches in 2020 saw resellers scoop up thousands of units using bots, leaving many fans empty-handed.
