Piranha Plant Camera for Nintendo Switch 2 Launches Simultaneously with the Console

Nintendo Switch 2 Camera designed as Piranha Plant, known as Pakkun Flower in Japan, a fictional species from the Mario franchise, was listed by German retailer Media Markt. According to the listing, a quirky gadget will become available on the launch day of Nintendo Switch 2, June 5, 2025.
While not part of the official Nintendo accessory lineup, the camera manufactured by HORI is officially licensed, featuring both Switch 2 and Super Mario branding, and it’s priced at €39.99 (about $44), slightly cheaper than Nintendo’s Nintendo Switch 2 Camera official offering at $49.99.
This officially licensed Pakkun Flower camera is most likely designed to work with the Switch 2’s new features, including GameChat, which allows players to connect with friends through video and voice chat, as well as share their screens while playing. The camera’s primary purpose is to capture the player’s face during gameplay, making it easier to communicate with others when you’re using the console’s GameChat feature. For example, upcoming mini-games in Super Mario Party Jamboree (Switch 2 Edition) will require players to stand and move around, which can be enhanced by the camera’s face and body-tracking capabilities. But as of now, the Piranha Plant camera’s image quality remains unknown.
It is worth noting that announced at Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 GameChat will be available for free until March 31, 2026, and then, it will require a Switch Online subscription.
