Akitoshi Kawazu, the creator of the SaGa franchise, took to Twitter to talk about what happened to the franchise in 2024. He mentioned that they were able to release a new title, a remake, and a remaster. Kawazu was referring to SaGa Emerald Beyond, Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven, and SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered. However, the statement also mentioned that there won’t be a SaGa game in for quite some time.
Compared to its big brother Square Enix RPG, Final Fantasy, SaGa emphasizes nonlinear gameplay and open-world exploration a lot more. Players are encouraged to explore and explore the open-ended plot of its games. The very first SaGa was released in 1980 and was called “The Final Fantasy Legend” in North America.
