The development team responsible for Assassin’s Creed Shadows thanked the /rAssassinsCreed subreddit for their support. They stated that the sheer amount of “love and positivity [they’ve] received has been incredibly heartwarming.”
“While we don’t reply directly, please know we’re listening. The entire Dev Team has been reading your posts — the celebrations, the feedback, the theories — and it’s been inspiring. It fuels us. And it helps us keep improving,” the post reads.
They then referenced another Reddit post, which showered the development team with praise. Here is what the referenced post said:
“Thank you out there to whatever devs or people on the team of the game that might be browsing thru this Reddit, if there even are any. This game has just really hit all the right points for me and I’m just so ecstatic over how much I love the game.”
Less than a week after launch, Assassin’s Creed Shadows has already drawn over 2 million players. Reviews for the game are overall quite positive, with IGN and PC Gamer having given the title 8/10.
Before the title was released, the world premiere trailer had a 33% like ratio on YouTube – indicating a negative opinion of the game. Expecting backlash from the community, Ubisoft implemented anti-harassment measures to preemptively protect their developers from social media scenarios. This included psychological and legal support for targeted employees.
