Fans of the game Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 have found a way to play the game in hardcore mode early. The mode will crank the difficulty of the game higher and is set to come out next month.
A Reddit user has found an exploit to be able to play the Steam version of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 in hardcore mode. According to a post they made, simply putting “-devmode” in the game launch option and typing a specific command in the console will unlock the hardcore mode. Simply start a new game and the difficulty option will pop up.
Other Reddit users pointed out that since the mode isn’t officially out yet, there might be bugs and inconsistencies with how the developers want the mode to be. When asked if the HUD is removed in hardcore mode, the original poster replied that while there’s still a HUD, the information it presents is very limited.
They mentioned that there are no compass directions nor does combat have direction markers and block indicators. Health bars, buffs, and debuffs are also not displayed. Players will have to go to the character screen to check their character’s well-being.
According to a roadmap provided by the developers, Spring of 2025’s update will contain the Barber feature, Hardcore mode, and Horse racing. Patch 1.2 of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 already introduced Barber mode.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 was released on February 4, 2025. The game was met with “generally favorable” reviews and received an 88/100 from Metacritic for its PC version. The game reached more than 150,000 concurrent players on Steam on its first day of release. As of February 17, the game has sold more than 2 million copies.
