Hell Is Us, a game by Rogue Factor, unveils an investigation trailer which showcases new gameplay. According to the trailer, exploration will play a big part in the game.
According to Jonathan Jacques-Belletête, Hell Is Us’ creative director and art director, while players will be fighting half the time, the other half will be spent exploring. The trailer highlights the game’s lack of quest markers or guided paths. The game employs a “Player Plattering” approach which encourages the player to use their intuition.
The developers believe that players won’t need quest markers to progress the game, which resulted in the aforementioned approach. Additionally, the developers also mentioned that players shouldn’t worry about overthinking what to do next as the tasks should be clear and intuitive.
The trailer showed a quick sequence of the player talking to NPCs as well as looking at maps to piece together clues about where the player is supposed to go next. Puzzles also show a bit of themselves in the trailer. Jacques-Belletête mentions that there will be “many secrets” in the game.
Hell Is Us is available for pre-order and is slated to be released on September 4, 2025. The game will be released on the PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S/X.
