The Epic Games Store revealed their milestone achievement of 295 million PC users in 2025 – a figure that surpassed last year’s numbers by 25 million. They announced that its Free Games Program offered a total of 89 free titles in 2024.

The estimated value for the free games, according to the official 2024 year end review, was $2,229 per player, with a total of 595 million free games claimed. For context, the free games are released on a weekly schedule.

Epic Games highlighted its growing social media presence, reporting a total of 14.1 million followers across all platforms.

Epic Games, founded in 1991 as a video game development company, has grown into a major player in game publishing, actively trying to challenge Steam’s dominance in the market. A key part of its strategy is weekly free game giveaways, allowing players to claim and permanently keep select titles in their libraries, as well as agreement with select publishers and developers to sell their PC games exclusively on Epic Store.

The company’s early success came with titles like Jazz Jackrabbit (1994), Unreal (1998), and the Unreal Tournament franchise, which helped establish its reputation in the industry. Epic is also the developer and owner of Unreal Engine, one of the most widely used game development tools worldwide.

More recently, Fortnite has become one of Epic’s biggest financial successes, generating over $26 billion in revenue since its 2017 release. The game continues to drive player engagement and revenue through its in-game purchases and collaborations.
