On Sept. 30, 2025, Cygames published a press release regarding Yuito Kimura’s departure from his executive director position at the company. The press release honored Kimura, saying that he has been “instrumental in driving and shaping the company’s growth with his significant contributions.”
In a post on X, Kimura explained the reasons for his departure. He said his health was deteriorating and that he believes he can’t perform his duties adequately.
He added that his condition is not life-threatening or serious and that he only needs plenty of rest. He said that he’s still interested in going back to game development in the future, but he needs to prioritize his health first.
In closing, he said that he wishes the best for Cygames and is looking forward to the future, where he will be able to meet players once more.
Kimura has made a name for himself as the producer of games such as Granblue Fantasy and Princess Connect: ReDive. The latter of which posted on X that the game is currently undergoing a project restructure, which includes a new producer.
