On Aug. 6, 2025, Genshin Impact developers announced that they are ending support for PlayStation 4. Together with this, the game will be removed from the console’s PlayStation Store and will no longer be available for download.
The game’s removal will happen in three stages: Game Removal, In-Game Purchases Delisting and End of Update Support. Starting Sept. 9, 2024, Genshin Impact will be removed from the PlayStation Store, and accounts that have never downloaded the game will no longer be able to search for or download it.
In-game purchases will be removed on Feb. 25, 2026, according to the developers. This means that players will not be able to buy in-game currencies anymore and access the in-game store.
Genshin Impact’s end of service on the PlayStation 4 will officially happen on April 8, 2026. On this date, the game will not receive any updates on the console. The developers will also add a prompt for players to easily bind their other login methods for easier access on other platforms the game is available in.
The reason for Genshin Impact’s sunset on PlayStation 4 was revealed to be “limitations related to hardware performance and platform application size.” This means that with the PlayStation 4’s aging hardware, it can no longer support the game in the future.
