On Aug. 3, 2025, the Skyblivion developers released their sixth development diary, which proved to be a hefty one. The developers renewed their commitment to releasing the mod this year and also announced that they are looking for more modders to join their ranks.
This development diary included new information regarding how the team is reimagining the world of Cyrodiil using Skyrim’s engine. According to them, they are reconstructing Sutch, an eighth city that was cut from the original The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
However, it won’t be a full city, but ruins. The developers also mentioned that it will retain its bandit occupation nature and add its very own Patron Divine. In addition to this, the team is also adding special attacks to unique weapons and a second biome, which acts as a palate cleanser to Oblivion’s repetitive lava and brimstone biome.
On April 23, 2025, the whole Skyblivion team received keys for TES IV: Oblivion Remastered from Bethesda. The release of the remaster was a surprise announcement for everybody, but especially for Skyblivion developers who have been working on the mod for a long time. However, Bethesda reiterated that it supports what the team is doing despite the surprise announcement and release.
Skyblivion is a modding project that aims to reimagine the world of Cyrodiil from The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion using the engine of The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim. Work on the project started in 2012, and it opened up to the public in 2016, when the team started looking for volunteers.
