Nintendo Switch 2 reached the milestone of 6 million units sold globally, according to the company’s financial results for the first quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2026, posted on Aug. 1, 2025.
The company’s net sales for the same quarter reached 572.3 billion yen ($3.8 billion), showing a 132.1% year-over-year increase. Notably, Nintendo’s net profit also saw an increase, amounting to about $637 million, showing 18.6% year-over-year growth.
Nintendo Switch 2 sales started on June 5, 2025, at an initial price of $449.99 despite all the disturbances caused by US President Donald Trump’s tariffs. The console launched with Mario Kart World, Split Fiction, Hitman: World of Assassination Signature Edition, Cyberpunk 2077 and Civilization VII as launch titles, along with revamped versions of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom featuring improved graphics, framerate and smartphone navigation.
During the first quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2026, Nintendo sold 8.67 million copies of games for its new console and 24.4 million copies for the original Nintendo Switch. The best-selling game for the new generation of Nintendo Switch was Mario Kart World, with 5.63 million copies sold as of June 30, 2025, due to the fact that from the very beginning of Nintendo Switch 2 sales, the game was sold as part of a bundle with the console.
Meanwhile, sales of the original Nintendo Switch from April to June 2025 amounted to 0.98 million units, showing a decline of 53.5% and reaching a total of 153.1 million units sold.
