Key points
  1. Football Manager 25 is completely canceled due to the developers not being satisfied with the game’s current state.
  2. The developers will instead focus on making the next installment of the franchise, instead.
  3. The cancelation affects all platforms from PC to Consoles.

Sports Interactive, the developers of Football Manager, have decided to cancel the development of Football Manager 25 citing the game as not meeting their standards as the reason.

“We have made the difficult decision to cancel Football Manager 25 and shift our focus to the next release.”, read the announcement that was posted on their website. The devs also said that Football Manager 25 was supposed to have the biggest leap in technical and visual advancement in the series.

However, as the development team approached critical milestones, it was clear that they wouldn’t be able to achieve a build of the game that they would be satisfied with. The developers also did not like the idea of releasing the game in its current state and patch things up as they went. A March release window is also a no-go as it’s too late in the football season. The Premier League ends its season in May.

Closing the announcement, the developers promised people who pre-ordered the game that they would be refunded. Football Manager has had a rocky development as the game was already delayed twice. The first delay was announced in April 2024 and the next one was announced in October 2024.

Football Manager 24 will still be available on all storefronts and will remain playable for players. However, the game will not receive an update reflecting the recent football season.
