Grinding Gear Games Releases Path of Exile 2 Content Update Timeline

Grinding Gear Games has broken its silence regarding the next big content update planned for Path of Exile 2. Its release date will be on Aug. 29, 2025, and according to the developers, this is going to be a big update.

“It’s a little later in the month than we had hoped, but this is a big update, and there were a few other constraints we had to work around,” the statement reads. Additionally, the developers also mentioned that since the game is still in early access, they have a lot more things planned for it.

This statement came a month after Path of Exile got its massive expansion on June 13. The game’s last big update was a year before that, in June 2024. The expansion, named Settlers of Kalguur, added an additional storyline, a new crafting mechanic, three new bosses, multiple unique items and a new challenge league in Secret of the Atlas.

Grinding Gear Games has not provided more information regarding the upcoming league but reminded its fans that major updates will arrive in the game every four months, meaning the next content update is going to be released in December 2025.

Path of Exile 2 was released in early access on Dec. 6, 2024, for the PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It’s the sequel to Path of Exile, which heavily improves on its combat and fluidity.
