Placid Duck Simulator is slated to release on iOS and Android devices on August 7 at the price of $1.99. The game was previously only available on Netflix Games for mobile devices, but was originally released on PC on July 6, 2022, on Steam, and has ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ overall and recent reviews.
Placid Plastic Duck Simulator offers gameplay very accurate to the title’s name; players watch plastic ducks fill up the swimming pool. There are no other objectives or challenges to overcome, with very little direct player interaction.
The game’s main marketing factor is the calmness and serene visuals alongside ambient sounds. Steam reviews praise the title for its unique duck designs with interesting interactions. The title sold over 500,000 units according to Video Game Insights and received numerous nominations during its release year.
Placid Plastic Duck Simulator has 47 collectible ducks in the base game, with 27 additional ducks included within the Ducks Please DLC, 27 more ducks in the Duck Addiction expansion, and 26 ducks in the So Many Ducks DLC. There are 11 special ducks and 13 event ducks, totaling 151 collectible ducks.
Despite the game’s very minimalistic design, its popularity warranted a sequel to begin development: Slowly Sliding Ducks. The sequel is marketed to have online PvP, where 8 to 16 players face off in PvP soccer matches and duck battles, which are to feature stage hazards such as bombs and ice slides.
