PUBG Mobile simultaneously rolled out version 3.9 and a collaboration event with Transformers on July 8, 2025.
Besides the battle between Optimus Prime and Megatron, the event also brought a new themed mode to the game.
During the collab, players will be able to summon their favorite bot, switch between vehicle and battle modes and take part in a hidden duel event.
The new weapon, ASM Abakan, which uses 6.56 mm ammo and features three firing modes — full-auto, two-shot burst and single shot — was introduced in version 3.9. Alongside the new weapon, a new attachment, the Barrel Extender (Sniper Rifles), was added. With its arrival, the previous Barrel Extender (AR, Sniper Rifle) was renamed to Barrel Extender (AR).
On top of that, the DSR’s cost dropped from 40 to 35 shop tokens at in-match supply shops, and it can now appear in airdrops or, rarely, on the ground.
Version 3.9 also made drifting possible on two-wheel vehicles, including motorcycles and bicycles.
In addition to the updates to Classic Mode, Metro Royal Chapter 27 will see the Zombie Uprising 2.0 update on July 9, 2025, featuring boss ranks, an in-match growth system, the Thunderclap Judicator as a new Fabled melee weapon, genetic codes and incubation, updated password-locked door supplies, a new container, a new NPC, as well as the Portable Centrifuge and Portable Microscope as new Fabled sellable items.
The 2025 Summer Showdown Map event will begin on July 14, 2025. This event will replace the usual firearms with ink blasters and feature battles between four teams of two players each. The winning condition will be to cover the battleground in the team’s designated color. Along with that, the Ice Dragon boss makes a return, with up to two able to appear on the battleground at a time.
Version 3.9 will also bring back four classic modes to PUBG Mobile for a limited time. The Ranked Arena event will run from July 24, 2025, to Sept. 2, 2025. Players can join the event through the Ranked section under the Arena tab. Gameplay modes will feature Team Deathmatch in Warehouse and Hangar, Assault in The Ruins and Domination in Town, all played randomly.
On top of that, version 3.9 introduced a new 3D urban seaside-style social lobby that now exists alongside the current 2D lobby. This new hub includes all the core features of the 2D version, such as outfit changing, teaming up, chatting, matchmaking, viewing personal details, accessing the inventory and shopping. The feature will gradually expand, with full global availability expected by July 17, 2025.
PUBG Mobile was initially released on March 19, 2018. By December 2022, the game had reached a milestone of approximately 1.3 billion downloads. By June 2023, PUBG Mobile had surpassed $10 billion in global player spending, making it one of the highest-grossing mobile games worldwide. Besides that, it stands as one of the most-played mobile games in history, with 300 million monthly players.
