|
- A playable build of Concord was leaked online over the weekend.
- The build was dated Nov. 14, 2023, nine months before the game’s official launch.
- Concord cost Sony $400 million to develop, and it didn’t survive for a month before being shut down.
One of Sony’s most expensive disasters, Concord, has been leaked online. A report by VGC confirmed that the build was authentic and is dated Nov. 14, 2023. According to the outlet, the build was uploaded over the weekend and is named FWChaos.
The build allegedly has a “.ini” file that can bypass the login screen of the game and enable developer options. However, the game cannot progress past the “Select Freegunner” screen because no characters show up on the screen.
Aside from this, the build contains a Galactic Guide and a Crew section, both of which provide more information about the game. A Job Board and a Store are also present. VGC notes that nothing happens upon clicking the Store tab. Interestingly, a developer matchmaking option and a style guide for the game’s various fonts can be found in the build.
Concord is one of Sony’s most expensive flops. Eurogamer has reported that the game cost $400 million to develop, and the game did not even survive for a month. It was released on Aug. 23, 2024, and Sony decided to shut the game down on Sept. 6, 2024. All sold copies were refunded.
A month after that, on Oct. 29, Sony made the announcement that the developers behind the game, Firewalk Studios, are going to be closed and that the development of the game is going to be halted for good.
