Borderlands 4 has listed quite modest PC requirements on its Steam and Epic Games Store pages ahead of launch on Sept. 12, 2025.
At a minimum, the upcoming action role-playing first-person looter shooter developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K requires a 64-bit processor and operating system, 8 CPU cores for the processor, 8 GB VRAM for graphics and SSD storage with at least 100 GB of available space. For example, the game’s page lists Windows 10 or Windows 11, Intel Core i7-9700 or AMD Ryzen 7 2700X, 16 GB RAM and Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 or AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT GPU.
As recommended PC requirements, Borderlands 4 lists a 64-bit processor and operating system, 8+ CPU cores for the processor, 12+ GB VRAM for graphics and SSD storage with at least 100 GB of available space. The sequel to Borderlands 3 (2019) and the fifth entry in the main Borderlands series is slated for launch on PlayStation 5, Windows PC and Xbox Series X|S, with a Nintendo Switch 2 release planned for a later date. The game’s developer promises new vehicles and traversal tools, including a grappling hook. The game will offer two gameplay modes: solo or co-op, with up to three other players to team up with.
Notably, the game will incorporate third-party digital rights management (DRM) solutions, Denuvo and Symbiote, to protect itself from piracy and unauthorized copying.
The story of Borderlands 4 unfolds as Pandora’s moon, Elpis, destroys the protective barrier of a planet named Kairos after being teleported away by Lilith using her Siren powers. In the upcoming title, players assume the role of one of the Vault Hunters, who must lead the resistance against a ruthless dictator named the Timekeeper and his army of synthetic followers named the Order on Kairos while searching for secret alien treasures.
As of May 2025, the Borderlands franchise has sold approximately 93 million copies worldwide, according to Take-Two Interactive’s latest financial report.
