The first gameplay showcase for Anno 117: Pax Romana was released by Ubisoft Mainz nearly a year after the game’s announcement.
According to the gameplay showcase video, players will start their journey in this Anno installment as a young governor of Latium. Notably, the game’s developer previously declared that in the eighth installment in the Anno series, for the first time in the series, players will be able to choose between different starting provinces, ruling either the Roman Empire in Latium or the Celtic kingdom in Albion, spreading the cultural influence of the Romans or the Celts accordingly.
The reveal video shows that wood will be one of the essential resources. It also explains that each resource in the game will require warehouses for storage.
The game will feature various types of buildings, such as neighborhoods, markets, taverns, bakeries, pig farms and even the governor’s villa.
As Anno 117: Pax Romana offers two paths for the player’s role, either as a loyalist or a rebel, players will be able to expand their settlement through diplomacy or force, depending on their preference.
It has been six years since the last entry in the franchise, Anno 1800. Now, the series takes players to its earliest historical era yet: the Pax Romana, a period of peace and economic prosperity at the height of the Roman Empire.
The new Anno is scheduled for release in 2025 for Windows PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
