Nintendo Details Free Switch 2 Updates For 12 Switch Games and Admits Lack of Switch 2 VRR Support on TV

Nintendo has officially announced that free updates for twelve Nintendo Switch games will be released for Nintendo Switch 2. On top of that, in a statement provided to Nintendo Life, the Japanese company acknowledged that Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) would only be available on Nintendo Switch 2 when playing in handheld mode.
As for detailed free updates, they are all coming on June 5, 2025. 51 Worldwide Games will get an update introducing GameShare support that allows up to four people to play 34 games together, either locally or online, via GameChat.
A software update for ARMS will be featuring HDR support and enhanced visuals optimized for the Nintendo Switch 2 display and high-resolution TVs.
The update for Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain will introduce GameShare compatibility, enabling up to four players to enjoy Party Mode locally or online via GameChat.
The Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker software update will be released on June 5, 2025, as well. The game’s visuals have been optimized for the Nintendo Switch 2 display and high-resolution TVs to deliver improved image quality, and HDR support is now included. With the addition of GameShare, two players can now group either locally or online via GameChat.
Game Builder Garage will receive a software update which enhances visuals for the Nintendo Switch 2 display and high-resolution TVs, offering improved image quality. It also introduces support for mouse controls using the Joy-Con 2.
A software update for New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe will be featuring enhanced visuals optimized for the Nintendo Switch 2 display and high-resolution TVs to deliver improved image quality.
Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet will get enhanced visuals for the Nintendo Switch 2 display and high-resolution TVs, along with improved frame rates to ensure smoother movement on the new hardware.
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury will receive enhanced visuals optimized for the Nintendo Switch 2 display and high-resolution TVs, as well as improved frame rates for smoother gameplay, as well as Bowser’s Fury. HDR support is also included in the upcoming update for both titles.
