The world-famous Louvre art museum announced that it will end the New Nintendo 3DS audio guide in September 2025. According to its website, the program will be replaced by a “new system.”

In 2013, the Louvre commissioned Nintendo to create software that would act as a guide for people visiting the museum. The commission came with 5,000 New Nintendo 3DS machines containing the software, which became known as the Nintendo 3DS Guide: Louvre.

Nintendo even released a Direct dedicated to the project, where the late Satoru Iwata and Miyamoto use the guide and discuss what they went through while designing the guide.

Additionally, the guide was also released on the 3DS eShop. Art enthusiasts can download the software and have a digital tour of the Louvre for 17.99 British pounds in specific regions. Physical copies of the game were exclusively sold in the museum’s souvenir shops and are currently fetching high prices on eBay.

The Louvre did not clarify what “system” is replacing the audio guide provided by the 3DS machines.
