Bleach: Brave Souls and Captain Tsubasa: Dream Team creator KLab is asking roughly 100 of its employees to voluntarily resign from the company. The studio mentioned that it has made this decision to cut the company’s costs and generate profits.
According to a report by Gamebiz, via Automaton, the studio has been operating at a loss for three fiscal years despite finding success with Bleach: Brave Souls, which has recently reached 100 million downloads.
KLab’s collaboration with Electronic Arts bore fruit in the form of EA Sports FC Tactical. However, its delays might have played a large role in why the studio is still losing money despite the success with Bleach: Brave Souls. As of this writing, EA Sports FC Tactical is only available in certain countries.
The studio guaranteed that every employee who voluntarily resigns will get a severance package. KLab hopes to reach 100 employee resignations as early as June 30.
This isn’t the first time KLab has tried to cut its operating costs. In February this year, the studio cut the salaries of executives who weren’t a part of the studio’s audit or supervisory committee by 10%-30%.
