Valorant Mobile to Launch First in China, Other Regions to Follow

On April 21, Valorant announced that the game’s mobile version will be released in China first, and the other regions will follow. According to the developers, they’re partnering with Lightspeed Studios to bring the game over to the country.

Lightspeed Studios has made a name for itself as the creators of PUBG Mobile, a mobile version of the popular PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG). Since then, they’ve made games like Apex Legends Mobile and Undawn. However, the latter didn’t do so well during its release.

More recently, it’s handling a couple of high-profile projects, with the biggest one being Final Fantasy 14 Mobile. The project was announced on November 20, with Final Fantasy 14’s producer, Naoki “Yoshi-P” Yoshida, taking the time to talk about Square Enix’s partnership with Lightspeed Studios.

It’s also worth mentioning that Riot Games and Lightspeed Studios are both owned by the Chinese company Tencent.

Riot Games has not announced when Valorant Mobile is coming out. According to India Today Gaming, the game’s pre-registration started on April 21 for China. Aside from this, there’s not much information regarding the game.

While Valorant was released in 2020 for the PC, a console version of the game was released in June 2024. The latter cannot crossplay with PC and has banned players using mouse and keyboard inputs in the game through Riot Games’ anti-cheat software.
