- Nintendo was criticized for alleged use of AI in the Mario Kart World trailer.
- In an exclusive interview with Eurogamer, Nintendo denied the allegations.
- Viewers believed AI was used for the in-game bulletins, which appear disproportionate in nature.
After noticing misshapen objects within in-game bulletin boards, viewers criticised Nintendo for alleged use of AI; Nintendo denied these allegations in an exclusive response to Eurogamer, who reached out to Nintendo for an answer.
“”AI-generated images were not used in the development of Mario Kart World,” a Nintendo spokesperson said, rejecting the notion that AI was used. The bulletin boards in question are showcased below.

One of the boards showcases a misshapen car. Its windows are almost top-hat like in nature – the car appears as if it was cartoonishly stretched out. As for the other bulletin, it presents an in-progress skyscraper with “WE BUILD YOUR DREAMS” spelled out next to it. The buildings lack proper architectural physics; the windows and floors are strangely positioned. Both bulletin’s lack of proper representation of real life objects sparked the AI allegations.
Mario Kart World release date is on June 5, 2025, the same day the Nintendo Switch 2 debuts. This is because the game is included as a part of the Nintendo Switch 2’s bundle. The last mainline Mario Kart game was Mario Kart 8 Deluxe; the original iteration of Mario Kart 8 came out May 29, 2014, more than ten years ago.
