Koei Tecmo announced record-breaking profits across multiple metrics in its latest financial report for the fiscal year ending March 2025.
According to the report, the achievement is driven by solid video game sales and a windfall from the company’s investment arm. The Japanese publisher, known for franchises like Atelier and Nioh, reported a net profit of roughly $243 million, showing an 11.4% increase from the previous year.
The Japanese video game, amusement and anime holding company released nine console titles during the fiscal year, including Dynasty Warriors: Origin and Atelier Yumia, the latter of which is billed as the most ambitious installment in the long-running series. Despite a slight dip in overall game segment sales, profits surged by over $22 million, thanks to increased digital sales of legacy titles and reduced spending on live-service operations. On top of that, the Dynasty Warriors series hit a milestone of 23 million units sold.
Also, the company’s investment division earned approximately $123 million in non-operating income (the highest ever).
Looking ahead, Koei Tecmo is bracing for a drop in profits next year, citing large-scale development costs and market volatility. One of its marquee titles in the pipeline is Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, a AAA exclusive release for the upcoming Switch 2.
