Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 hits a milestone of 500,000 sold copies one day after launch on April 24, 2025. A role-playing video game developed by Sandfall Interactive and published by Kepler Interactive made an announcement via a post on X (formerly Twitter).
The game from a French video game developer is available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC.
On the title’s launch day, Bethesda Game Studios congratulated the developer of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 with a post on social media, saying ”We can’t wait to play!” and featuring a picture of a bunch of cheering Adoring Fans from recently launched The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.
In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, players will follow protagonists Gustave, Maelle, Lune, Sciel, Renoir, Verso, Monoco and Esquie on a mission to stop the Paintress, whose god-like powers kill every one of a given age that she draws on a giant monolith once a year.
Some of the main characters of the game were voiced by renowned Hollywood actors Charlie Cox (Gustave) and Andy Serkis (Renoir).
In January 2025, Story Kitchen, a company that adapts videogames and other non-traditional IP into film and TV projects, announced a live-action adaptation of the game with developer Sandfall Interactive.
