Skate Story is finally coming out on PC, macOS, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC on Dec. 8, 2025, after a few delays. The game was supposed to be released in 2023, but was delayed to 2024, then finally to 2025.
The game’s release will also see it being added to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, which is a rarity this year. According to a list published by DualShockers, there were only three games released on the PlayStation 5 that joined the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog on day one, including FBC: Firebreak.
Depending on the contract secured by the Skate Story’s developer, Sam Eng, this day-one addition to PlayStation’s subscription model can be beneficial, just like how FBC: Firebreak benefited from being in subscription services. Remedy Entertainment said in its previous financial statement that while the game’s launch has underperformed, it is “largely been driven by the Xbox and PlayStation subscription service agreements.”
Skate Story is a game with a unique take on the skateboarding genre. The game’s description calls the protagonist a demon in the Underworld, made out of glass and pain. Skate Story also has an art style very reminiscent of Superhot.
Eng won the Chanel Next Prize 2024 and received €100,000 in funding from the luxury fashion brand. The award is only given to innovative and creative individuals to support them.
