With the release of Risk of Rain 2’s recent DLC, Risk of Rain 2: Alloyed Collective, Gearbox Software has finally redeemed itself in the eyes of the fans, as it has received overwhelmingly positive reviews on Steam.
For context, Gearbox bought Risk of Rain in November 2022, which led to its fans having a bad reaction to the purchase. Their reactions were further validated by the release of Risk of Rain 2: Seeker of the Storm, which was plagued with problems on the PC.
However, with the release of the recent DLC, this sentiment seemed to have faded away, as it was rated overwhelmingly positive on Steam, leading to the game shooting up the Steam Top Sellers Chart, eventually ranking in seventh place.
Not only that, there was a visible spike in concurrent Steam players, reaching around 42,000 players daily since its release. It has even entered the top 30 list of games with the highest daily active users on Steam.
Risk of Rain 2 was initially released on Aug. 11, 2020, for the PC. A Stadia version followed the next month, with a Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One version following the month after. Then, finally, it was made available for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on Aug. 27, 2024.
