Guild Wars Reforged is an upcoming update for Guild Wars, revitalizing the original 2005 game with more accessible on modern hardware through official Steam Deck verification and support for modern controllers. The title will cost $19.99 for new players, containing all three main campaigns: Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall. Existing players who own any Guild Wars campaign will receive the Reforged update for free.
The update is made in collaboration between ArenaNet and 2weeks; future updates to improvement upon the initial update are planned. The visual and audio received improvements, including new ambient occlusion, lighting updates, and more. Various user-friendly adjustments were made as well.
Guild Wars is a classic MMORPG set in the world of Tyria. Both Guild Wars 1 and Guild Wars 2 focused heavily on narrative, with large campaigns and expansions continually advancing the world’s lore. Guild Wars 1 was released in 2005, while Guild Wars 2 was released in 2012. As of writing, the 20 year old sequel is the only title receiving a revitalized rerelease through Guild Wars Reforged.
