Facepunch Studios director Alistair McFarlane called out Delta Force for stealing Rust assets. McFarlane pointed out a screenshot of C4 in the 2025 title, which appears identical to the C4 in Rust. The director then provides links to the original creator, Pilgrim, alongside the full 3D model of the asset on Artstation, which was posted eight years ago. The taping, buttons, wiring, and overall dimensions all look identical to the referenced photo within Delta Force.
After the public callout, Delta Force officially reached out to the director and apologised. Alistair McFarlane announced that the “matter is resolved.” He then complimented Delta Force’s most recent cinematic, stating that he hopes to see Rust Hazmat in the next season.
Rust was developed by Facepunch Studios and had a significant influence on the survival genre. The game was released in 2013 for early access, then fully released in 2018. As for Delta Force, it was released for consoles on Aug. 19, 2025, with PC having released earlier on Dec. 4, 2024. The free-to-play game, Delta Force, is beginning its latest new season. Delta Force was awarded the “Best Multiplayer” award in Korea, Hong Kong, and Macau at Google Play Best 2025.
