Epic Games Store rolls out gifting feature

Epic Games Store rolled out a gifting feature on Nov. 18, 2025, allowing the platform’s users to purchase paid games, certain editions, durable add-ons, and eligible bundles and send them to anyone from their friends list. The platform warns that in-game currency and consumables, subscriptions, pre-purchases, and free games cannot be gifted.

A video game digital distribution service and storefront operated by Epic Games will reward users for purchasing games as gifts using the Epic payment system, meanwhile allowing the recipient to use their Epic Rewards balance to redeem the gift.

How gift giving system works

After choosing a game to send as a gift, the user needs to click on the “Buy as a gift” button and then choose the friend they have in mind as the recipient from their Epic Games Store friends list. After that, the user can choose the exact delivery time for the gift, although this step is skippable, and then finalize the purchase.

How gift receiving is arranged

Users get informed about the presented gift via notification right in the Epic Games Store and via an email, if allowed in their communication settings.

The recipient has two weeks to accept the gift. If the user already owns the gifted title, they will not be able to accept the gift, and the funds will be refunded to the sender. Gifts can also be declined, in which case the funds will be returned to the sender.
