In a recent earnings call, Sony announced that it is still expecting Marathon to be released within the fiscal year of 2025, which ends in March. Additionally, both PlayStation and Bungie will announce a new release date for the title in “the autumn timeframe.”
This information came from an answer by Sony CFO Lin Tao, when the company was asked in an earnings call about the development status of Marathon. She answered that the game is still in development, and even referenced a recent beta test that happened, saying that the development team is working on fixing the game’s issues.
In a recent report by Insider Gaming, the most recent NDA-heavy playtest of Marathon had a positive result. The outlet mentioned that players were saying that there was a significant improvement, with some players even describing the single-player experience as something “borderline horror”.
