Key points

  1. Dune: Awakening patch 1.2.20.0 is scheduled to release next week, adding the Base Construction Tool.
  2. The Base Construction Tool immediately removes the player’s base from the world, allowing the player to circumvent base upkeep costs.
  3. The patch will also add balancing, quality of life additions, and a new communinet channel.

Dune: Awakening patch 1.2.20.0 will add the Base Reconstruction Tool, which allows the player to immediately and completely remove their base from the world, thereby circumventing base upkeep costs. This feature can also be used to transfer bases between different servers, but this is only after the server transfer function goes live; the transfer feature is scheduled to be released after patch 1.2.20.0, but has no exact timeline available yet.

Dune: Awakening — Chapter 2 Announcement Trailer

Here is a comprehensive list of the upcoming Dune: Awakening patch 1.2.20.0 changes, according to the official blog post:

  • We’ve added a new radio station to the communinet, which plays the Dune: Spice Wars soundtrack.
  • Transport ornithopters can now travel between maps while carrying a vehicle.
  • All Testing Stations are now properly set to either PvP if they are located in the northern part of Deep Desert, or PvE if located in the southern part.
  • Improved ornithopter collision handling to mitigate griefing behavior.
  • Fixed an issue that made it possible for players to block interactions with some NPCs.
  • Many bug fixes and UI improvements.

The devs also communicated that after patch 1.2.20.0, they will be working on adding Character Server Transfers, allowing players to move their character to another World entirely. With the Base Reconstruction Tool, players can bring their base and all its content with them. After, the devs are planning to perform server merges as well, which has been a highly requested feature.

Tencent announced restructuring of its internal resources for Dune: Awakening, shifting from development to long-term live operation. As a result, Funcom, the development studio responsible for the game, is facing layoffs so that the Tencent can focus its resources across projects and studios.
