Year-over-year, there was a revenue improvement in almost every aspect of the segment, except for Add-on Content and peripherals, which are listed under Others. Even the hardware saw a little boost, as sales of both the PlayStation 4 & 5 are still going strong.
In regard to specifically the PlayStation 5 hardware, the company has sold 3.9 million units. For software, Sony has sold 80.3 million units, with 6.3 million of them being first-party titles. Digital download ratio is up year-over-year at 72% from 70% last year, but down quarter-over-quarter, with Q1 having a record high of 83%, the highest in both fiscal year 2024 and 2025. The report also revealed that Sony’s latest first-party title, Ghost of Yotei, has sold 3.3 million units.
Monthly active users have also increased year-over-year from 116 million players to 119 million. However, it’s a decrease from Q1’s 123 million.
Interestingly, Bungie was also mentioned in the Game & Network Services Segment in the handouts made by Sony. The mention was in a negative light, saying “recording of impairment losses against a portion of Bungie, Inc.’s intangible and other assets in connection with Destiny 2.” The company then said it was ¥31.5 billion, which is around $204 million.
