The delay will allow the devs to “finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.”
GTA VI was postponed once again; the game was initially scheduled for May 26, 2026, but is now scheduled for Nov. 19, 2026. The postponement was announced on Nov. 6, shortly after Takes-Two fired 30 to 40 UK and Canadian employees for allegedly distributing confidential information in a public forum.
According to the official social media post from Rockstar Games, the delay will allow the developers to “finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.” The officially stated reasoning uses vague wording to validate the extension; Grand Theft Auto VI was first scheduled for a 2025, and is one the most anticipated video game in the industry within the past decade.
Rockstar Games is seeing pushback through unionization from its workers and previous employees. After the firing mentioned before, the ex-employees began protesting outside the UK offices denying responsibility for the leaking of company secrets, and claiming they were fired without warning or proper evidence.
