Fired Rockstar Games employees protest, denying leaking company secrets

Rockstar Games fired 30 to 40 UK and Canadian employees for allegedly distributing and discussing confidential information in a public forum. The ex-employees are protesting outside the UK offices of Take-Two, denying leaking the company secrets, claiming they were dismissed without warning or proper evidence. 

The protests are organized by the Independent Workers Union of Great Britain (IWGB), with fired staff asking for reinstatement and back pay compensation, taking place in Rockstar North’s office at Barclay House in Edinburgh, Scotland, and in Take-Two House in London. All of the fired staff were working on Grand Theft Auto VI. 

Take-Two’s published statement insisted that the firings were for gross misconduct; the IWGB claims the firing was a blatant union-busting move.  

“Last week, we took action against a small number of individuals who were found to be distributing and discussing confidential information in a public forum, a violation of our company policies,” a Take-Two spokesperson said in a Bloomberg report. “This was in no way related to people’s right to join a union or engage in union activities.”

The affected employees participated in a private trade union chat on Discord, with the only outsiders in the chat being the labor organizers, the union claimed.

A dismissed employee publicly stated that they were dismissed without warning, without evidence, and without a chance to speak for myself.

Coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the sixth numbered installment in the Grand Theft Auto series has sparked great interest from players. The game is currently scheduled to release on May 26, 2026, after numerous delays.
