The highly anticipated grand strategy game Europa Universalis V was released worldwide on Nov. 4, 2025, to moderate success on Steam. The game reached an all-time Steam player peak of 77,320 and is currently celebrating a mostly positive review on the storefront and a generally favorable review on Metacritic.
Europa Universalis V is the sequel to 2013’s Europa Universalis IV, meaning this game took more than a decade to be released. The game was first announced in May 2025, when the developers did not even share its release date.
Just like its predecessors, the newest installment will have the player takeover a country in what might be one of the most complicated video games ever made, according to a review by Metro.
The players will have to micromanage the elements of the nation of their choice, including finances, policies and diplomatic encounters. Events such as invasions at random is also possible, making the game quite unpredictable.
Europa Universalis V is available for a retail price of $60. A premium edition is also available for those who want sacred sites unlocked, which would give the players access to a cosmetic pack that adds the eight historical holy sites to the game’s map. Europa Universalis V is only available on PC.
