Key points

  1. Destiny: Rising published a blog communicating updates for the Pinnacle Energy.
  2. The game is scheduled to receive two major version updates annually.
  3. Season 2 lasts until December, while season 3 begins on January, introducing a new tower defense mode.

Destiny: Rising developers acknowledged the issues surrounding the Pinnacle energy system, which currently grants multiplied rewards for short play sessions and later reverts to basic rewards once depleted. In the blog, which was posted on Nov. 5, the devs stated that they hope that they hope the Pinnacle Energy system would bridge the gameplay experience gap between players of differing time investments, a design philosophy influenced by the mobile platform.

“Thanks to your feedback, we adjusted the basic reward rates and range several times. However, we’ve come to realize that it still leaves many Lightbearers feeling disheartened,” the blog communicated. Adjustments are on the way, scheduled to launch next year as a part of their first major update. The game is set to receive two major version updates annually, with the first update launching at the beginning of the next year.

This upcoming update will debut main story continuations, alongside a new series of Gauntlet: Onslaught stages, complete with a new contest. The developers are working to adjust end-game content and overhaul core systems, like weapons and artifacts. The official blog post used vague wording for the upcoming changes, but teased various new season content through an infographic, shown above. Within the infographic, Season 3 Act 1 teases the Classic Destiny Beloved 6-player challenge, potentially implying the return of a classic Destiny 1 raid.

Destiny: Rising season 2 launches on Nov. 11, lasting until Jan. 1, and debuts the new mythic character Maru, the starbound pirate. The legendary pirate Lightbearer is of the offense role, wielding the void element. Her weapon of choice are the light grenade launcher and grenade launcher. Legendary characters Xuan Wei, Attal, and Ikora will also be available.

The new gauntlet, Blitz Stages, debuts as well. The gauntlet features a 100% drop rate of exclusive weapons, alongside three new stages for players to complete.
